Laura closed the shop. Turning the key in the lock before turning around and joining the stream of people in the street. She had taken some flowers with her, it was a special night for her and Adam. Five years together. She looked at the white roses and smiled. She suddenly heard noises and looked behind herself. She saw a mother trying to calm down her little boy who had tripped on his own feet and fell to the ground. The boy had scraped his knee and was crying. Laura smiled watching the scene. She then looked away saddly, not wanting to be reminded of her inability to have children. She continued her way back home, her good mood suddenly had vanished.
She opened the door to their home. She was greeted by a delicious smell. She peeked into the kitchen, smiling as she saw Adam looking really consentrated on cooking. She leaned against the wall and just watched him. "What kind of measurement is a pinch?" She heard him ask as he read from the cook book. Laura laughed, making him turn his head to her. "Oh, Laura! I didn't hear you come in." Adam said wiping his hands to his apron. She looked at the text on the apron and walked forward, planting a kiss on his cheek. "Kiss the cook, you didn't have to put that on just to get a kiss." He smiled softly at her and kissed her lips gently. "But it helps doesn't it?" She laughed softly as she went to take her coat off and put the roses on the dining table. Adam was stressing over the potatoes. She smiled and put the roses in a vase and put the vase on the dining table. She looked at the table, he had made it really nice. She looked at him. "You know we could have gone to a restaurant, you didn't have to go through all this trouble." He looked at her over his shoulder as he drained the potatoes. "No, I wanted to make tonight special." He said smiling consentrating on his task. He put the pot on the table and took out some butter and milk, as he started to mash the potatoes, making it as smooth as possible. She looked at him fondly, and went to peek in the oven. "Want me to help?" Adam went to her taking her hands into his and kissed her cheek. "No, not really. I got everything in control. Just relax for a while, the food is soon ready." Laura smiled and sat down looking at him work. She smiled happily. Soon Adam started to plate the food. He held them in his hands and put them on the table. He went to get the wine and glasses. He poured the redwine to the glasses and put the bottle on the table. He reached to his pocket and pulled out a box of matches. He lighted up the candels and dimmed the lights in the room. He took off his apron and sat down joining her. He took his glass in his hand and held it up. "To five happy years. Let there be many more." He made his glass meet with hers, making a little clicking noise as the did, and drank some wine. She smiled and did the same. "You are so sweet." They started to eat. "How was your day? Buisness been good?" He asked. She nodded. "There are alot of weddings coming up, so I will be busy next week." She cut into her stake and ate it. "How was yours?" He smiled. "It went really well. I got ten songs aproved for this clients next album. Ten out of fifteen is not bad." Laura smiled widely. "That's great, but in my oppinion they should have accepted all. There were nothing wrong with them was there?" Adam shook his head. "No, They were just too difficult for her to sing." They both laughed. "Poor girl, we shouldn't laugh at her." Adam said trying to stop laughing. Laura smiled. "But it's true, You should be singing your own songs, and not writing for others." Adam touched her hand. "You know I can't. I'm happy doing this job, really." He smiled. The continued their chit chat and ate in peace, enjoying eachothers company. Adam stood up and took the plates away. He went to the fridge and took out their desserts. He gave her one cup and they went to the fire escape to eat. There they had a nice view to the park. They ate their desserts in silence, Laura leaning her head to Adams shoulder. "This is so nice." She said softly. She looked up at him. "You can cook pretty good." She said kissing his cheek softly. They stayed like that for a while before Laura broke the silence. "Do you want to have a baby?" She asked quietly. Adam looked at her. "You want one?" She looked up at him. "You know I can't have one." She started to feel the tears form in her eyes. He touched her cheek wiping the tears away softly. "How do you feel about adoption?" She looked up at him. "But it wouldn't be yours then." He smiled softly and kissed her both cheeks. "I wouldn't mind that. Tomorrow we will start looking into adoption, okay?" She hugged him suddenly, feeling really happy. "I love you Adam!" He smiled and hugged her back. "I love you too Laura."
She woke up in the middle of the night, she was naked and Adam wasn't there. She got up seeing light shining from the other room. She saw Adam was on the computer and was looking into something. He looked so consentrated. She walked behind him and wrapped her arms around his shoulders. "What are you doing?" She kissed his cheek. He jumped a bit, but smiled. "I'm looking into the adoption." She hugged him tighter. "I love you." He smiled and pulled her to sit on his lap. They looked at the sites, finally finding one that seemed to be trustworthy. They smiled to eachother and kissed.
Few days later they had an appointment with the people in the adoption agency. Laura was fretting over how she looked, Adam just smiled and pulled her to sit next to him. "You look beautifull. Just calm down they will like us." She sat down, but started to drum her thigh with her fingers nervously. Adam just smiled and took her hand. "It will." They were called in. They were in the office for thirty minutes before they came out, holding hands. They looked at eachother before they both broke into a wide smile. Laura jumped in Adam's arms laughing as he twirled her around. They kissed happily, not caring about the looks they were getting from other people. They were smiling at the couple.
