Wally slowly walked into the medlab, going to the familiar bottle of morphine. He took some pills, pouring them on his hand before throwing them in his mouth, and swallowing. He walked to the hospital bed, feeling the need to lay down after the hit. He put the half empty bottle in his pocket incase he needed it. He closed his eyes, drifting into drug indused sleep.

Bruce had the underlying feeling, his gut was telling him something was wrong. The smile of Wallace West was not real, something he knew that was impossible. But then, Bruce had heard. Wally had been in the Damnable Arena. That God-forsaken Hell-hole where people watched a slaughter. It made his stomach tighten as he moved his way into the Medical Lab. He steps were silent and calculating; the same as they had always been in the entire time he had known Wallace West.

Wally woke up with a gasp, he wiped the cold sweat from his face. He had dreamt. That damn battle, that damn man. His taunting and the rage he felt towards the man. The part where he exploded his heart. The look on Dinahs face, on everybodys face. The blood. He swalowed the lump in his throath and reached into his poicket for a new fix. Just wanting to forget and feel better.

"Wallace." Bruce's berating, yet cold, commanding voice filled the room. He heard the shaking of the pills in Wally's hand before he ever saw the bottle. God, Wally, what caused you to fall that hard? Bruce knew the answer, he had seen the arena happen. Wally snapped and was complete and utterly unethical, completely livid with powers, inhumane in all meanings of the words. Yet, Bruce couldn't find a reason to give up on his first son's best friend. Bruce stood there, letting his Bruce Wayne front show with Batman's persona. It would be confusing, but he hadn't needed to wear the cowl in a long while.

Wally jumped, dropping the bottle, making it roll to the floor. He looked at Bruce and then to the bottle of pills. He quickly swooped in to get the pill bottle into his posession again. "Don't scare people like that." He said avoiding the older mans gaze.

"Wallace." Bruce's voice said in a more threatening tone. He wanted the man to drop the bottle and look at him. To look at him, to tell him what he was seeing wasn't really happening. Of all people... Bruce never expected this. Planned for it, yes, but never honestly suspected Wally of this kind of behavior. Then again he hadn't expected Wally's behavior to even harm another person. Who knew what kind of power Wally had held back? Bruce suddenly couldn't fathom the pity of self-loathing and despair the man might have felt, but he could sense that the pain Wallace felt... was one he could relate to.

Wally didn't look up. He felt like a puppy that was being punished. His hand squeesed the bottle tighter. His shoulders tensed, if possible trying to retract his head under the protection of an imaginary turtle shell.

"Wallace, look at me." Bruce's voice grounded out, he needed to see Wally. What had become of the innocent boy, well man he had known?

Wally winced. He bit his lip, finally forcing his face up to look at the older man. He feared what he would do now that he had found out. He slowly moved his hand that held the pill bottle behind his back. Sheilding it from Bruce. "What?" He asked trying to sound strong, failing miserably at it.

Bruce watched the man, completely fold in front of him. Usually, back then, there was Wallace always clambering for his attention. Detesting if Bruce gave an ounce more attention to Dick then Wally. If Wally was hurt, he'd try to hide it from Bruce, thinking it made him look weak compared to Robin. Robin. Bruce mentally sighed, wishing he could go back in time and fix all the stupid, fucked up things. To fix everything. Maybe he could have saved Barry, so Wally wouldn't have had to mature as quickly as he had... no. Nothing could have save the man and he knew it.

Bruce gave Wally a look, the bore into the man's soul. He knew what the man was hiding.

Wally started to slowly back away, feeling like deer in headlights. After couple of paces he darted behind one of the hospitalbeds, keeping it between him and Bruce. His eyes darted to the door, cursing the fact that Bruce was blocking the way.

Bruce would have frowned if he wasn't so focused on why Wally was reacting this way, "Wallace, I want you to give me the bottle." He said in a coaxing, commanding voice. The one he used to use while the boy was just that, a boy.

Wally shook his head vehimently. "NO! I need it!! It helps me with the pain!!" He squeesed the bottle in his hand for dear life.

"No it doesn't." Bruce hissed out, he wanted to take a step forward. But he knew, deep down, the moment he did Flash would run. He didn't need nor want that. he just wanted Wally to give him the pills.

"It does!!" He grabbed the pillow from the bed, throwing it at Bruce as he quickly made a run to the exit. Clutching the pill bottle to his chest.

Bruce grabbed the pillow, spinning it around and slamming Wally in the face. He received a shock for the action, but tried to swallow down the pain of his reflexes.

"It's doesn't." He repeated, trying to get the message across.

The force of the blow made him stumble backwards, dropping the bottle again. Wally rubbed his face. "Yes it does... believe me it does..." He said weakly. He squeesed his hand, realising the bottle had dropped and started to look for it franticly.

Bruce caught the bottle with his foot. Crushing it soundlessly, "It doesn't."

Wally saw the bottle under Bruces foot. When he crushed it Wally just fell to his knees. "It did..." He just stared at the floor, feeling his whole world lose color. Nothing mattered anymore, least of all he himself.

Bruce knelt next to the fallen hero, roughly grabbing his chin, "It never did." Bruce hissed out, trying to convince the man that the pills never helped.

Wally looked into Bruces eyes, before letting his head bend forward in defeat. "It made me forget... for a while..." He felt weak, like he was struggling to even stay upright. Now that the only thing that had helped him was gone, what seemed to be the point in trying anymore. He let his body go limp, falling.

Bruce kept the defeated man as upright as possible, "Wallace, don't you dare give up on me." Bruce growled out, moving Wally's face to look into his own. His eyes bore into those dull, decaying emerald eyes.

Wally looked into the blue eyes of Bruce. "What's the point in trying.... everybody hates me... even I hate me... for what I did..." He could feel the tears. "I tried to stay alive for Dinah, and the baby that isn't even mine and she hates me now...." He pulled up his shirt showing Bruce the scars Laura had given him. "Heck!! Even the baby will hate me!!!"

Bruce hadn't been all the careful with what was going on in this world. He refused to, things that happened here were only temporary until they were allowed to leave. Bruce slapped Wally across the face before re-grabbing his chin to force the defeated, dead eyes to look into his own, "Listen to yourself, do you think Barry would want to hear this? He died for nothing?" Bruce hissed out, God Barry... Barry had been one of his best friends, besides Clark and Diana, "That the man he picked couldn't take a hit and get back up. That he believes that no one loves him?" Bruce's voice seemed to get harsh, and more violent as the words progressed.

Wallys eyes widened when Bruce slapped him. Just staring shocked into the others eyes. 'Barry...' The memories of his uncle seemed to rise from the abyss of his memories. The man he had been and the man he was now seemed lightyears apart. Wally let his eyes drop to look at his hands, the hands that had killed. "Barry was no murderer.... like me.... that wasn't self defence, that was a cold blooded murder... committed by me... Barry would never do that, or condone that..."
