Dark knight and a dark woman

Amanda decided to pay a visit to the Xavier institute. She used the garden entrance, looking around herself, smirking when she saw a familiar figure sitting in his tree. She stepped out of her hidingplace and walked to the tree, leaning her back against it. "So how are you doing Bruce?" She glanced up at the tree.

Bruce covered his mouth, coughing into his fist before looking down and seeing Amanda, "Fine." he said abruptly, "You?"

She brought her arms forward, stretching them before lifting them up and stretching them again. "Super." She looked up. "Haven't seen you around lately. Have you been busy?"

"I was shot, haven't been myself recently." He didn't elaborate much on himself, he was vexed by his inner demons and that fact that he knew he was slowly dying.

"What about you? I haven't seen you around at all."

She looked at him as if observing his behaviour. "Who shot you lover boy? Anyone I can maim?" She asked smirking sadisticaly. When he asked about her she smiled. "Oh, nothing much just been busy with my boyfriend." She looked up at him wanting to see his reaction.

"Who shot you lover boy? Anyone I can maim?"

"Joker." He said shortly.

"Oh, nothing much just been busy with my boyfriend."

The corner of Bruce's mouth twitched lightly, he was proud of the woman finally settling down. He had no interest in her, except for that one night. Bruce moved his head to the side, coughing as silently as he could trying not to alert the woman to his ailment.

She frowned. "Joker? I'm sure I might have heard that name before." She took off her heels and dropped them to the ground. She walked few steps away and ran towards the tree jumping and grabbing on a branch. She pulled herself on it and climbed the rest of the way to sit next to batman. "Now I don't break my neck trying to talk to you." She said smirking.

"Just don't break the branch." He said in his usually tone. The no emotion tone. He paused before speaking, "My most well known enemy, I don't expect you to know him." The sentence seemed like an oxymoron but he didn't care.

She started to shake the branch, giggling. "Are you saying I'm fat?" She laughed.

"I'm saying the combined weight of our muscle masses might cause the branch to bend to its weakest point causing the branch to break." Bruce coughed again, clearing his throat he began again, "Causing the inevitable fall." Bruce finished.

She stopped the shaking, and narrowed her eyes. "Are you sick or something? You've been coughing alot since I came here." She reached her hand to touch his forehead to see if it was hot. "And I know how physics works, but don't worry, I will catch you if you fall." She said winking to him.

Bruce released some pent up air, moving his head away from her hand, "I'm fine." he got out before coughing. Bruce didn't even care about her gesture of friendship coming from that woman.

She leaned away, her eyebrow raised a bit in a questioning look. She shrugged. "Fine, you don't want to talk about it, I won't ask." She looked at the wiev from the tree and started to swing her legs. "I see why you like this tree."

Bruce looked at her, before nodding in agreement, "You can see everything, yet nothing. It's the perfect thinking spot." He spoke... more like whispered. Bruce put his fist in front of his face clearing his throat, "what brought you here, anyway?" he asked with a slight hint of curiosity, but still his voice carried his heavy monotone Batman voice.

She grinned wickedly. "Don't tell anyone, but sometimes I come here to steal your food." She whispered into his ear. She pulled away laughing. She tilted her head. "What type of things do you think up here?"

Bruce snorted lightly.

"What type of things do you think up here?"

Bruce was not truly sure if he should let her into his head, but he decided she was fine, "I think about my daughter... I think about Jason... I think about a world without Batman and a world without Bruce Wayne... Trivial things as such." He made sure to keep his voice steady.

She snorted a laugh. "You think you have problems. When I get back home, I will have to fight to get my men and my share back, which will be fucking hard." She looked at Bruce. "Your daughter will have atleast someone who will take care of her. And as for your world, I'm sure that a world without Batman can survive for a while. Besides it seems most of your worlds villains are shipped here." She said nonchalantly.

"That's not what I mean, Amanda." Bruce said harsly. His monotoned voice making what he seemed harsh, "My daughter will stay with Bar, that's not what I'm worried about. I'm more worried about when I die..." He said lightly, taking a breath, "What will happen to the world without me? I'm sure Tim would become Batman but still..." He sighed, "I just... usually have an answer but as the reality of death gets closer everything seems to... pixelated and uncomprehendable."

She narrowed her eyes. "You are dying? From what?" She kept him nailed with her eyes.

Bruce sighed. He knew he should not have said anything, "Joker. It's a long story that I'd rather not get into, but without Mr. Freeze... I really don't have long to live." He said slowly.

She just looked at him. "Poor Bruce, well lets hope he gets here before you do." She looked at the scenery. "So what stage of grief are you?"

"Fourth, if I remember correctly." Bruce knew the woman didn't care, but he didn't want to worry Jason or anyone else. The only other people who knew were Oliver and Johnathon... and he doubted any one of them were talking.

"Well think of it this way. You only have one more stage to get to." She looked at him. "That is not much of a consolation though."

"Incredibly not." Bruce coughed out, "Though, I'm pretty sure I'm not going to die. Something always happens... the last minute I'm saved. Tends to be a fact." Bruce mused aloud, he wanted to keep his head up but it was getting harder with every passing day.

She smiled at him. "Lets hope there will be something. The world would be pretty dull without you around." She gave a small peck on his cheek. "You didn't hear that from me." She then jumped down from the tree, putting her heels on. "It was nice talking to you Bruce. I hope I'll see you around." She said waving her hand up at him as she made her way back home.
