A Loss and Despair Followed by Depressing News

Storm raced to the mansion. She drove faster than she ever thought she could and with Deadpool in the state he was in, she wouldn't have dared let him behind the wheel.

When they reached the institute, she shouted out, "CLARK, WE NEED YOU IN THE MEDICAL LAB! IT'S AN EMERGENCY, PLEASE!!! She followed Wade into the lab and watched as he gently placed Kitty on a stretcher bed.

She went to her again and felt her pulse. She choked back a sob and then began setting up and turning on machines.

Wade sat Kitty down onto the bed. He was still shaking.

The baby. He thought to himself, I promise to protect the baby... And now it's my fault it's dead. And I may have killed Kitty too.

He sat next to the door as Storm worked, not wanting to get in the way. Not wanting to live.

Clark ran into the Medical Lab with Rogue right behind him, he froze when he saw Kitty lying on the Medical Lab. "What happened?' He demanded as he ran to get bandages for Kitty's wound, he winced as he realized that Kitty was no longer pregnant.

"What happened?' Clark asked.

"I-I stabbed her... It was an accident. Came up behind me and startled me... My reflexes took over and before I could stop myself... I realized what I had done. I would never have done anything to hurt her... Or the baby..."

Wade got up and left. he wanted to be there for Kitty... But couldn't stand seeing her like that.

Rogue was hot on Clark's heels when he went somewhere. She saw her Team mate on the table, bleeding, "What happened to her?"

"I-I stabbed her... It was an accident. Came up behind me and startled me... My reflexes took over and before I could stop myself... I realized what I had done. I would never have done anything to hurt her... Or the baby..."

"Baby?" she asked allowed, she didn't know anything about a baby. It took her a moment to realize Deadpool had done with to her, Rogue felt such intense rage. Yet, not an ounce of it showed on her face. She watched with hateful eyes as he walked out of the room, she'd talk to him later about it.

Storm let out a sigh of relief when Clark arrived. She hated to see Deadpool in that state but was glad for the help from Clark and began taking out tubes. She felt for Kitty's veined and inserted a IV plastic needle in her.

"Kitty was pregnant. There was an accident." She said when Rogue questioned about a baby. She noticed a strange look in her eyes but shook it off and started to collect blood for testing.

Clark bit his lip and looked over at Rogue, "Uh Rogue can you help me get her shirt away from the wound, we need to see if there's been any inner damage. If I had my collar deactivated I'd be better able to examine her but sadly I can't and its too risky to move her." He said. He didn't comment on Deadpool's leaving but he knew that he felt bad about stabbing Kitty.

Rogue nodded, she's worry about Kitty for now, "Clark, I need gloves." she said, looking up at the man. She had lost her gloves in the Arena and hadn't been given another pair. She didn't want to run the risk of hurting Kitty while trying to save her.

Storm looked at Clark and handed him some tools. "We're going to need to do a C-section to remove the fetus." She glanced at Rogue as she was putting on her gloves. "Rogue, dear, can you get bring over the anesthetic machine please? It should already be on. Oh, and attached this mask to the suction cord, please?" She watched as Clark removed Kitty's close and then place a sterile drape over her legs.

"We're going to need to do a C-section to remove the fetus." Clark nodded and hastily went to work, he wished he had super speed that way they could have gotten done faster.

Rogue shrugged moving quickly to get the machine on and working. She picked up Kitty's head to wrap the mask around her. Rogue knew when to listen to Storm.

[ooc: that was all I know about a C-section and surgery. Ya'll can just make stuff up now. xDD]

Storm watched as Clark began making careful incisons on the lower abdomen and made sure to check Kitty's pulse and pressure on the monitor. She held her breath as the dead fetus started to become visible and tears flowed down her face as Clark remove it, cutting off the umbilical cord. She reached for Rogue's hand and held it tight. She choked back another sob. She really didn't realize how heart-wrenching this would be and she was so glad Kitty was unconscious for it all...

Clark bit his lip as he removed the tiny fetus and placed it on a tray that had been drawn up next to the bed, "She's going to need some blood transfusions, she lost a lot of blood." He said as he started to sew up the wound with materials that he had grabbed earlier.

Rogue spoke quickly, "Give her O-, its the universal type." She frowned not knowing her blood type. She was her squad leader, she should have known. Rogue looked at the tiny raspberry looking thing, "...Babies, they look weird just starting out." Rogue shivered lightly, almost thanking the Deities that listened for her most likely inability for pregnancy.

Storm held out her arm. "Then take some of mine. I am an O negative and I'll be happy to donate some blood." She watched as Clark felt for a vein and began taking some blood from her. She couldn't help smiling at Rogue's comment. "Yes, they do."

Clark waited until he thought he had taken enough and then made sure Storm sat down, "Rogue, Storm needs some sugar to replenish what she lost do you mind getting her something?" He asked quietly as he checked to make sure the bandages were doing their job.

Rogue nodded leaving the room and headed for the Kitchen.

Wade couldn't stand to be in the medical lab when they were working on Kitty. it was all his fault, he didn't know what to do, but he knew he couldn't stay here. How could she still love him after what he did?

He decided he had to leave. He didn't know where to go, but everyone would hate him if Kitty died... He'd hate him... He already did. He went to his room and packed his things.

Clark sagged in relief as Kitty started showing small signs of recovery, "I'm going to find Deadpool." He muttered to Storm before he ran out of the room. He stopped outside room eleven and froze when he saw the room was empty, on the bed lay a note and Clark winced before he picked it up. He had a feeling that he knew who this was for and he felt even worse for Kitty who would no doubt miss Deadpool when she woke up.

Storm nodded to Clark and watched as he left. She would've liked to talk with Deadpool too but she was too weak to get up at the moment.
So she scooted her chair closer to Kitty and held her hand tightly as she waited for Rogue to return with something sugary, preferably a chocolate protein bar.
She smiled at the thought of digging her teeth into one of them and was immediately reminded of how hungry she really was.

Rogue ran into the room, holding a protein bar, "It was all I could find." She tossed it at Storm, she didn't want to run the risk of the woman touching her. She should've picked up gloves on her way back.

Kitty woke up feeling sick and then the memories hit her, "Wade!" She gasped and tried to sit up but her stomach rebelled and she sank back down. Monitors were beeping loudly and she was freaking out, "Where's Wade?" She asked Storm who was next to her.

Rogue quickly pushed Kitty onto the bed, knowing her powers had no effect on her, "Kitty, calm down. you're going to go into shock if you don't calm down." Rogue held the top half of Kitty's body down, trying to understand how she woke up with that amount of anesthesia in her body.

Kitty looked up at Rogue and felt like she was on the verge on tears, "Wade, where is he?" She asked as she looked around for him. She needed to see him, she had to tell him that she didn't blame him for the baby's death but she couldn't see him anywhere.

Clark heard yells coming from the Medical Lab and ran the rest of the way towards the Lab, "Kitty, listen to Rogue all right." He said as he joined Rogue's side. He winced when Kitty's eyes landed on the note that he was holding, "What is that?" She asked quietly. Clark bit his lip and then handed it to her, Kitty's eyes scanned the note quietly and when she looked up more tears were filling her eyes. "It wasn't his fault." She said brokenly.

"Clark, stay with her. I'm going after Pool." Rogue said quickly, "Where's the last place you saw him or where was he headed to?" She asked quickly.
