The Walk in the Park

The Overseer led her through the woods and stared up at the few stars that he could see, "Do you want to know how I got my powers?" he asked. He was surprised that he was asking her, but he felt that he could trust her.

Storm watched the Overseer as the walked and as he stared, she wondered what purpose he could possibly have for bringing them here. "I am quite interested to know, if you do not mind telling me?" She squeezed his hand a little and smiled at him.

The Overseer nodded, "Very well I'll tell you...however I should warn you there is no happy ending to my tale." he said and watched her closely for her reaction.

She looked down at the grass. "I would still like to hear your tale if you do not mind re-living it in your head. I have heared of and even witnessed many unhappy situations, Mister Overseer."

The Overseer studied her, "It all began after I was left for dead in Canada, where Wolverine had left me. Instead of dying I was transported to another world.....this world, and I was met by the rulers of this land." Upon seeing her curious expression, he decided to delve into a better explanation. "They call themselves The Protectors, and they used my inventive brain to make them collars that could nullify people's powers. They went a step further with me, in order to ensure that I would stay in line they gave me powers. However these power's come at a cost, I am forever driven by my hormone's it would seem" he said gravely.

Storm listened to the Overseer's tale and almost gasped at the mention of Wolverine abandoning him. She became intrigued and curious as he told of being brought to this world and of the rulers. She frowned and put a hand on his shoulder as he talked about them giving him powers. "The Protectors? So you were experimented on? The powers you have are not natural to your DNA. What do your powers consist of?"

The Overseer rubbed his chin, "Well I am superfast, superstrong and I can fly, however whenever they call me I have to obey their orders." he said thoughtfully, "Not unlike you and the rest of the gang up at the Mansion." he said with only a hint of amusment.

"Those are quite the abilities. I would not want to have to tangle with you but I can see that you are as trapped as us. These collars render us to obey just as much as you are," she gazed into his eyes. "And I am glad you told me your story. It helps me not be blinded by rage and blame you for all this."
She stared at a patch of withered grass and frowned, "May I ask what happens if we attempted to use our powers against these?" She as she touched the collar around her neck. The moment she touched it, she felt a strong shock and fell to her knees. She gasped.

The Overseer opened his mouth to warn her but was a little too late when she touched her collar. He winced, "That happens, only its scale is much worse when you use your power." he said quietly.

"Wow..." Still gasping, she looked up at him with a shocked expression. "Well Mister Overseer, I believe it is a good thing you do not have one. Although, this is the first I have felt anything quite so strong in a long time." With a grunt, she proceeded to get up.

The Overseer offered her hand and helped pull her up, "Yes well, now you will know what will happen if you do not participate in a game." he said dryly.

"Thank you. So we could die if we don't participate in matches against each other? I have noticed heroes and villians alike have been brought here. Will the battles be strictly set Good vs Bad or are you not allowed to talk about the Protectors' plans?" She had been staring at the stars as she talk but glanced at the Overseer as she asked her last question.

"Heroes and Villains will be set against each other...in fights to the death whoever wins twenty rounds will be able to leave this universe." he said and also looked up at the stars.

*Fight to the death?* She has been in many fights with Mystique but they had never ended in death... In order to return home, she must kill 20 supervillians. Can she do it?
"Who are these Protectors, Overseer?" She asked as the feeling of anger began to rise in her. "Are they Superbeings as well?"

"That I cannot tell you, however you may join me in the arena where I will tell you more about the fights." he said and held out his hand.

Storm nodded in understanding and took his hand, letting him lead the way to this so called "Arena".
